I have the pleasure of serving as President of Toccoa Falls College, located in beautiful northeast Georgia. It’s a wonderful part of the state full of remarkable wildlife, fish, mountains, lakes, cultural activities, and a chance to just experience the beauty of God’s creation. I frequently write about Christian worldview and my perspectives on living a Christian life and developing Godly character. I was a regular blogger for the Huffington Post and you may read my writing here.
My book, No Compromise: Thoughts From A Christian College President, is available on Amazon and may be purchased here.
I have been involved in Christian higher education for the past 26 years. Prior to that I served as the manager of information systems for the Town of Palm Beach, Florida. I also served as a police officer in Maryland for 12 years. I worked road patrol, served as a detective for the crimes against persons unit, was a hostage negotiator, polygraph examiner, SCUBA team diver, and served in a variety of other positions in the police department.
My life is shared with my beautiful wife of 31 years, my two children, six barn cats, a dozen chickens, and two dogs. We live on 25 acres in the country about 10 miles from Toccoa Falls College. Enjoy the blog!
Clayton….just drop me a note with your contact info. Send it to rmyers@tfc.edu.
Dr. Myers,
My name is Clayton King, I live just up the road in Anderson. I’m an evangelist and President of a large non-profit ministry. I’ve spoken at TFC many times and wanted to run an idea by you that I think could be a great opportunity to promote the school to tens of thousands of Christian high school students. I wasn’t sure the best way to contact you so I found your blog (Great content by the way). I hope to hear from you soon…
I will call your office.
Brad…thanks so much for your kind note. I really look forward to meeting you and being a part of the National Day of Prayer Breakfast. Thank you for the invitation. If you are around Toccoa before that event please let me know. We could grab some lunch!
Dr Bob, I have enjoyed exploring your BLOG; I may become a regular. You do look like your grandfather. An old movie buff, I remember him well.
I am chairman of the Fishermen group in Gainesville. We are very excited that you have accepted our invitation to offer prayer for our nation at our annual National Day of Prayer Breakfast on May 2nd. We plan to give you about 5 to 6 minutes to offer a greeting and pray. I will forward a program the end of the month. Look forward to meeting you.
I can see a few similarities myself 🙂
Geez Bob! You look just like your Grandpa and my Dad’s uncle Wally.
Don…I’ll keep my eyes peeled! Love to see you guys one of these days.
Brother Bob: any guitar Prof jobs at your school 😉 Love those montains too. Barb and I hope to visit my sister near ya’ll soon. Tell your family hi. Don
My uncle recently passed away, and my cousin has been sending me photos of all sorts. He (my uncle), my grandfather and my mother were in vaudeville, and they knew tons of people. I had to look up Wally Vernon to find out who he was, and realized I have seen him in a few movies, especially the Charlie Chan one. Anyway…I have an 8 x 10 autographed picture of Wally Vernon (signed Cactus Vernon) . I have no idea of the date it was taken, but on the bottom right is printed:
Personal Management
ASSOCIATED BOOKING CORPORATION
On the bottom left is printed:
WALLY VERNON
Star of Stage, Screen and Radio
I would be happy to send it to you if you want it, even though it is autographed to my Uncle Bob, I feel it’s more important to your family than to mine. Let me know please, I’d be happy to send it along!

I never knew that Oklahoma was so beautiful but thanks to your blog, I do now. In reading up on Weslyan theology, I have not yet found anything different from my Baptist theology. I think I could go to a Weslyan Church but I’m happy with Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Irmo. See http://riverlandhills.org

WOW…you have been busy….would not have known you if I passed you on street..guess we all changeLOL…Let me know what your parents are up to and where they are at…the area looks beatiful where you are.I’m still a country girl and enjoy open spaces..
Thanks for the note. You have probably googled his movies and there are a ton of them. I haven’t discovered any that aren’t out there already. Wally was my mother’s father and his wife Stephanie was my grandmother. They had three children…Bob, Ron, and my mother, Mary.
Keep me posted. I would love to see pictures or get any other info you think would be interesting. Thanks again!
Ethel Webb was my grandmother and was Wally’s sister. I have my grandmother’s scrap book where Uncle Wally sent autographed pictures to his neice (my mom).
My brother Jim found an old movie that Uncle Wally starred in (Squaredance Jubilee) and gave it to my Mom for Chrismas.
If you know of any other movies that Uncle Wally starred in, I would be grateful to hear from you.
Every once in a while I google Wally Vernon. I do this because my granmother Ethel Longe (Ethel Webb) was his sister. My parents would tell stories about Wally coming to town (Detroit, Michigan) to do some shows at the local clubs back in the 1950s and 60s.. A few years ago, when I googled Wally, I found a professor at a college that was also a grandson of Wally. I have lost this persons name over the years. I found your pictures of him on this web site interesting. Please send me an email if you would like to converse more on this topic.
This is a cool blog Bob. Great challenge for your students running all over Oklahoma. I’ll spend some time going through all the links you have here so I can get a feel for Oklahoma.
God bless you friend.
Tim
Michael…thanks for your note. I sent a private note to your email. Take care!
Dear Bob,
Your tweet popped up on my “google alert.” Hope you are enjoying Uncompromised Faith. One point of irony: I lived in Bartlesville briefly as a child–saw my first snow there!
