History of OWU

I was leaving campus tonight and noticed just a beautiful, peaceful sky behind the mansion.  I couldn’t help but wonder if the Fosters used to look at the same sky when they walked the property in the evenings.  For those of you that don’t know, the Fosters built the mansion that now houses OWU’s administrative offices and library.  It is a remarkable building and we have already restored the first floor to look as it did when the Fosters lived there.  We have received another $1 million to renovate the second floor.  Work will start on that as soon as the library moves into their new building.

Anyway…it’s fun to sometimes think about the history of a place.  I was thinking about walking to my truck tonight and years ago I bet the Fosters wondered about outlaws or Indians.  What a fun world…
