It’s All About Me!

Have you heard statements like this?

  • I was here first.
  • I have my rights.
  • You owe me.
  • Can’t you move any faster?

We live in a society today where many folks just believe life is all about them.  If they don’t get what they want they loudly complain.  If they are served a bit too slowly at a restaurant they are quick to lean over to your table and tell you about it.  If they believe their rights have been violated they will quickly take legal action.

I can’t help but think about the scripture in Matthew, chapter 20 that says this, Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Are you serving others or are you waiting to be served?  Is it all about you or is it about making a Godly impact in the lives of others?  By simply examining the life of Christ we can easily understand what He meant in those verses from Matthew.  Jesus spent a lifetime helping those around Him. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, raised the dead, loved the poor, taught the children, and ultimately died a terrible death on a cross for all of us.

So next time you encounter the sales clerk having a tough day or the waiter or waitress just at the end of their rope, remember it’s not about us.  Show them an extra measure of kindness that they just don’t expect.  Show them the kindness of a loving God who came to serve. Show them what having God in your life is all about.

  1. Romans 13:1
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

Therefore we as Christians must pray that our leaders will have their eyes opened to the Truth in God and that they will be ambassadors of peace and good governance.

Let us as Christians be an instrument of God’s Grace and break the Me First, partisanship which has pervaded and crippled our Governments

Blessings on you and your ministry
